Dr. Warren Melamed, Weequahic 63’ has been an active supporter and donor to WHSAA for many years. The former CEO of Monarch Dental in Dallas TX and Embassy Dental in Nashville, TN, spent more than 4 decades practicing dentistry and developing multi-specialty dental group practices.
After graduating from Meharry School of Dentistry in 1972, he completed a dental internship and then worked as a staff dentist at Mathew Walker Health Center and subsequently established a thriving private practice in Nashville.
In 1981 Dr. Melamed moved to Dallas, Tx. where he founded what became Monarch Dental Associates. This began the entrepreneurial phase, he stopped practicing in 1987, focused on his career as owner and CEO, and grew, over 13 years, from a single office 5 doctor group practice into a 15 location, 50 dentist, 350 support staff, multi-specialty dental group practice serving over 50,000 patients a year.
In 1995, Dr. Melamed joined with TA Associates of Boston to found Monarch Dental Corp. as Chairman, CEO, and CDO. He led an IPO in 1997, trading on the NASDAQ. At the end of 2000, he retired from the day-to-day activity of the company and stayed on as Chairman until Monarch’s sale in 2003.
In 2005, Warren founded Embassy Dental in Nashville, where moved to in 2008. In Nashville, he repeated his entrepreneurial success building Embassy Dental into a 7 location, 12 dentist, 85 support staff, multi-specialty Group Dental Practice, serving over 15,000 patients per year. Embassy Dental was sold to Marquees Dental Partners in 2015.
While living in Nashville, he enjoyed the families of his 2 sons, including the birth of 3 grandsons. His son Dan, graduated Meharry in 2008 and joined him in the business as a staff dentist and his other son Rick worked in management. It was one his greatest joys to have his sons working with him daily.
Embassy Dental was the primary corporate sponsor of Nashville Cares, an organization that supports people living with AIDS and was recognized in 2015 for their contributions and corporate excellence.
Warren Melamed was a recognized community member in Nashville, TN., who served not only by providing top-notch dental care to Embassy patients, but also by supporting many charities and causes. Throughout his career, Dr. Melamed has maintained a focus on helping others make the most of life through optimizing oral health. Such a dedication led him to lead several educational presentations and serves CEO and President of Oral Health Management.
Warren attended Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry which is a historical private Black medical and dental school in Nashville, TN. Warren is a member of the Royal Society, major donor, and sponsor of the college for many years, establishing a scholarship program dedicated to rewarding Excellence in Dentistry.
After retiring in 2015, Warren and his wife Alice, split their time between Longboat Key, FL and recently moved to Chagrin Falls, OH., where he enjoys golf and his wife’s 2 young granddaughters.
