Douglas Freeman is a Newark Citizen Stakeholder who is committed to serving the 44th District of Newark NJ with a hands-on approach in developing, administering, and enhancing proposed activities for South Ward residents.
With over 10 years in the telecommunication industry, Douglas Freeman has accumulated experience in public service, networking, communications and serving on task forces. He also served as a union delegate for three years. His experiences in the telecommunication industry paved the way for him to become the owner and founder of a Newark-based independent communication and insurance brokerage company.
Additionally, Douglas Freeman proudly enlisted in the U. S. Army Reserves to serve and protect his country.
As a proud Newark, resident for over 20 years, Douglas Freeman has motivated, inspired, and encouraged his community through collaboration and volunteering efforts. His passion to enhance the community has become a lifetime goal that will follow him throughout his journey in public service.
Doug currently serves as director of the Weequahic Park Sports Authority, located in Weequahic Park, which brings numerous program activities to children and adults. The WPSA sponsors baseball, basketball and football camps and trips to professional sports events, a summer program for young people, an annual Kite Event, a beautification program by planting tulips annually and focusing on keeping the park clean, a Fishing Derby in coordination with the County of Essex, among other things.
Doug and his wife Joy are the proud parents of son Jaylin and daughter Brionna.
