Frequently Asked Questions

TIC Annual Gala and Fundraiser FAQ’s

A virtual gala is a first for TIC so we thought an FAQ of what to expect might be helpful!

Is the Gala a Zoom or a Livestream?
Our gala will be hosted with Zoom, so we can all see each other live and interact via chat.

What time does the Gala start?
Beginning at 8:20pm, you'll see an on-screen countdown clock and scrolling journal ads. The program itself will begin promptly at 8:30pm with an opening blessing from Rabbi Tucker. Our advice: sign in early so you don't miss a moment!

Are we doing Havdalah?
Not as part of the Gala program, but you can join the Clergy for a live havdalah over Zoom at 8:00pm. That link can be found on the TIC website. Links are provided in the TIC Shabbat Shalom emails.

How long is the program?
1 hour.

What is the cost of the Gala?
$136 per household to receive a link to join the Zoom AND an Event Box. Usually, gala tickets are $180 per person/$360 per couple; our goal this year is to make the gala more accessible, while also raising important funds for our synagogue.

Is the cost of my ticket tax deductible?
A portion of the household ticket price is tax deductible ($50), whereas all journal ad donations are 100% tax deductible.

What’s in the Event Box?
Glatt Kosher caterers, Foremost-Ram, has put together a delectable collection of dairy hors d'oeuvres and desserts to serve 2-4 guests. In addition, a mixology kit from Muddling Memories is included as part of the evening's entertainment. See next question re: entertainment.

What is the entertainment for the evening?
Cody Goldstein of Muddling Memories, a Jewish-owned Brooklyn-based small business, will teach us the art of mixing the perfect cocktail, followed by a micro-concert featuring Jewish musician, Noah Aronson.

When do I get my link and pick up my Event Box?
The Event link will be provided on Friday, March 19 to those who registered. Event boxes will be available for pickup at TIC. Date & time will be publicized closer to the event.

What will I do with my mixology kit if I don’t like to drink?
The cocktail recipe is flexible and will still taste yummy without adding liquor.

What are the deadlines for tickets and journal ads?
In order to receive an Event Box, which is key to the evening's festivities, AND be included in the printed program which will go into every Event Box, you must register by March 8. Tickets purchased after March 8 are not guaranteed an event box. Those placing journal ads after March 8 will not be listed in the printed program.

What does my donation support?
TIC relies on donations to help support the day-to-day operations of the synagogue, which include such vital components as daily minyanim and services on Shabbat and holidays, working closely with our  B’nai Mitzvah families, strong religious education in our schools, engaging youth and family activities, robust adult education opportunities, support of our many Hesed and social action initiatives, funding of the salaries of our clergy and staff, and maintenance of our building and grounds. Contributions account for a substantial part of our budget, and we are grateful for the generosity of each and every donor.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you on March 20th!
