Stephanie and Chuck Cahn have been active community volunteers in Southern NJ for almost forty years. Temple Beth Sholom has been their religious home and foundation throughout their lives. Their family and community have been their passion.
Stephanie and Chuck have chaired many noteworthy events, including the Jewish Community Center Opening Gala, the Maccabi Games Opening Ceremonies, the Jewish Geriatric Ball and the JCC Auction.
Over the years, Stephanie and Chuck have opened their home to numerous community and fundraising events including those for TBS, JFED and KBA.
Together, they have been the recipients of the Harry B. Kellman Community Leadership Award and the JCC Sidney Levy Volunteers of the Year Award.
Stephanie and Chuck have served on various boards and committees.
Stephanie’s board roles include the Jewish Geriatric Home Auxiliary Board, the JCC Board, the Jewish Federation Board and the Kellman Brown Academy Board.
Chuck served as vice president of the JCC for many years. He received the inaugural honor for the Roger Davis Memorial Community Service Award. He was a president of the American Diabetes Association of Southern NJ. Chuck is a member of the Cooper Hospital Foundation Board.
Chuck honorably served as Mayor of Cherry Hill Township for eight years, preserving open space, bringing in new businesses and creating the Human Relations Advisory Committee. Being Mayor was an invaluable life changing experience that combined leadership, personal growth and community.
Chuck currently is a partner in CKS Real Estate Holdings. Chuck was President and CEO of Stewart Business Systems, a family office equipment company that grew into a successful technology business. Chuck was raised in Cherry Hill, attended TBS and was bar mitzvah'd by Rabbi Lewis z”l!
Stephanie has co-chaired the southern New Jersey Lion of Judah and was the recipient of the national Kipnis award, which honors women who have set a high standard for philanthropy and volunteerism. She initiated the Cherry Hill Mayor’s Wellness Campaign, garnering statewide awards. Stephanie humbly danced with the Ballet Master from the Pennsylvania Ballet in Cherry Hill’s Dancing Under the Stars. Stephanie is a proud supporter of the Covenant House, bringing awareness to homeless youth.
Professionally, Stephanie taught as a reading specialist for Cooper Hospital’s Learning Center for eighteen years. She is an interior designer and proudly includes the renovation of Temple Beth Sholom and the new home of Kellman Brown Academy to her portfolio.
Stephanie served on the TBS search committee that ultimately led to the wonderful hiring of Rabbi Wexler. She participated in TBS’s “The Sulam for Purposeful Living”, a meaningful, inspiring program. The Cahns co-chaired TBS’s Capital Steps fundraiser. They traveled with TBS members to Cuba for a valuable cultural experience with Rabbi and Jane Lindemann.
Stephanie and Chuck have been married for over 41 years. They have four beautiful children - David, married to Remy, Matthew and Elizabeth. Their three grandchildren are the light of their life – Jamie, Asher and Mimi! Stephanie and Chuck love to spend time with their family, friends, travel, exercise and sip wine!
