Celebrating 25 Years of Gail
Gail joined Temple B’nai Abraham as Executive Director in 1996. For eight years prior to joining TBA, she served as the Executive Director of the Clifton Jewish Center in Clifton, NJ, and she earlier held positions in the administrative and religious school offices of the Barnert Temple in Franklin Lakes, NJ.
During Gail’s 25-year tenure at TBA, she presided over a major expansion and renovation of our building, as well as the installation of solar panels on our roof. She has helped hundreds of congregants with b’nai mitzvah concerns, a loss in a family, or difficult personal circumstances. Most recently, she has shepherded TBA through the pandemic and ensured that we were able to provide services, school, and assistance to the congregation even though our building was closed. Gail has enjoyed working with a host of Temple presidents and has learned something new from each one: Merle Kalishman, Sandra Greenberg, Jeffrey Roth, BJ Reisberg, Edward Meinhardt, Julie Silbermann, Bruce Greene, z”l, Jeffrey Klein and Julie Silbermann 2.0.
Gail holds a B.A. degree with honors in Elementary Education from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is certified as an early childhood educator. She is a former elementary school teacher in the Prospect Park, NJ school system, and she has also taught Sunday school at the YMHA in Paterson and nursery school at Beth Rishon in Wyckoff. Gail has served for many years on the executive board of GANSE, a chapter of the North American Association of Executive Directors (NAASE).
Gail is the proud parent of children Stacey and Edward, and Seth and Sarah, and the loving grandmother of Ryden, Lachlan, and Sam. She grew up in Fair Lawn and has lived in Wayne with her husband, Barry, for more than 45 years.
