The theme of this year’s Gala is a celebration of the Eishet Chayil, the Woman of Valor, whose worth, Proverbs tells us, is far beyond that of precious gems. According to Jewish mystical thought, women were created with greater amounts of wisdom and insight, enabling them to understand situations at a deeper level and serve as catalysts for change. Tonight we recognize and honor five women of valor, each of whom embodies the values of strength, courage, wisdom and foresight that our tradition so admires. We celebrate and acknowledge their power and persistence, and we thank them for their commitment to the Schechter School of Long Island, Judaism, their dedication to defending what is right, and their determination to make
the world a better place through acts of chesed and tikkun
