Karen Chazan
DISTINGUISHED LEADERSHIP AWARD
Karen Chazan is a lifelong resident of Queens. Having grown up in Hollis Hills, she and her husband Ira made the choice to move to that neighborhood over 25 years ago. That decision was based on the desire to live in a thriving Jewish community with a Jewish day School. Karen and Ira planned to send their kids to (the then) Solomon Schechter School of Queens.
Their son, Rami (10) started Schechter in 2001 and daughter Jordana (13) followed in 2004.
Karen joined the PTA during Rami’s first year of kindergarten and has remained an active advocate for the school ever since. Through the years, she has served as PTA Co-President, VP Of Education and most recently, President of the Board of Trustees.
Karen and Ira strongly believe in Schechter’s mission to provide an education to all Jewish children regardless of level of religious observance. They are and will continue to be big cheerleaders for the school.
Karen, Ira, Rami and Jordana are honored by the school’s recognition of the work that Karen has put into the school. They all look forward to seeing Schechter Queens continue to grow and thrive.
