Josh Caplan has dedicated his life to making a difference in the lives of others. Raised in a nurturing household, he imbibed the values of Torah study and community engagement from an early age. After completing his education at Yeshiva University, Josh embarked on a successful career in the Cable Television industry, first as a programming manager, then in Cable Advertising Sales, where he spent the bulk of his 35 year career. In this position, he actively engaged in non-profit activities, earning numerous accolades. Passionate about community service, he served in leadership positions for multiple non-profit organizations. Josh spent more than a decade co-chairing RPRY’s Scholarship Breakfast and co-chaired the original RPRY Golf Outing. Transitioning to the non-profit sector full time in 2012, he started as Director of Development and Community Relations at Manhattan Day School where he managed successful fundraisers and collaborated on impactful educational grants. In 2016, as Executive Director of Teach NJ, Josh fostered collaboration among private school leaders and helped advocate for the passage of legislation to direct more security funding toward private schools.
In 2019, Josh assumed the role of Executive Director of RPRY and immediately demonstrated his exceptional leadership qualities during the challenging times of the COVID pandemic. He facilitated a smooth transition to remote learning, ensuring that students could continue their education without disruption. Recognizing the financial strain faced by the school, Josh worked diligently to secure PPP loans, ensuring the economic stability and continuity of RPRY through the uncertainty of the pandemic. Moreover, he personally engaged with RPRY families who were financially impacted by the pandemic, offering support and guidance, in a sensitive and compassionate manner. Josh played a pivotal role in facilitating the safe and successful re-entry to in person learning at RPRY and the operation of Camp Kulanu during these challenging times. Additionally, Josh spearheaded The Free Kosher Meal Program for the Edison/Highland Park/East Brunswick communities where he coordinated the weekly distribution of box meals for all families, regardless of school or shul affiliation.
Josh lives in Edison, with wife Naomi and cherishes his role as a loving husband, proud parent to 4 RPRY Alumni, and grandfather.
