Cultivating The Seeds

The Institute for Eating Disorders plans to initiate garden therapy for its patients by converting three plots of land, located at the entrance to the Institute, into vegetable gardens.  The patients will be divided into two groups, each meeting once a week and led by two therapeutic gardening instructors.  The data indicate that the great majority of the patients at the Eating Disorders Institute have suffered some form of sexual assault, leading to post-traumatic stress and its characteristic experience of detachment from reality. Garden therapy is an important treatment modality for severely eating disordered patients, who respond positively to this hands on and physically relaxing engagement.
