Take A Walk!: September

Tennally Town/Tenleytown Historic Walking Tour

Monday, September 9 at 6 pm

Did you know that DC’s Tenleytown neighborhood was originally called Tennally Town? In 1790, the area was named after a local tavern owner, John Tennally. By the 19th century, the name had evolved to its present-day spelling.

Learn more about this venerable neighborhood on Monday, September 9, when former Janney Elementary School teacher Rona Walters will lead a walk highlighting the sites in Tenleytown that have been designated historic landmarks.

We'll meet at 6:00 p.m. in front of Panera Bread on the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Albemarle Street, NW.

The walk will take 60-90 minutes and cover one to two miles. Afterwards, participants can enjoy good food and conversation at Masala Art, a wonderful Indian restaurant on Wisconsin Avenue, or another establishment in the area.
