Henry Skier serves as President of AMSkier Insurance and AMSkier Reinsurance. After receiving his early education in Honesdale, Henry went on to pursue higher education at Syracuse University and Temple Law School. Prior to returning to Hawley, Pennsylvania to lead the family business, Henry served as a Captain in the United States Army.

Founded in 1920 by Henry’s father, Abe Skier, AMSkier Insurance is entering its 104th year as the largest insurer and reinsurer of children’s camps in the United States. Carrying on his father’s legacy, Henry has devoted his professional life to making the camp experience fun, safe, and accessible to children across the country.

Attributing AMSkier’s success to his father’s dedication to hard work, personal relationships, and giving back, Henry is committed to cultivating relationships and fostering strategic partnerships. This has led to his involvement in numerous philanthropic initiatives helping children and young adults from underserved communities access life-changing, overnight summer camp experiences.

In 1991, Henry joined forces with camp industry leaders, the late Ben Appelbaum and the late Morry Stein, founding the New York State Children’s Camp Safety Group. Since its inception, that group has proactively protected thousands of camp workers and saved member camps over $20,000,000 in worker’s compensation insurance expenses. He was also instrumental in launching Morry’s Camp and the Ben Appelbaum Foundation to honor the legacy of his friends and business partners.

Henry has received countless accolades including being honored in 2000 by The New York State Camp Director’s Association. He also received the 2003 Hedley S. Dimock Award presented by the American Camping Association, the 2007 Tri-State Camp Award, and the 2012 Valued Partner Award of the Pocono Mountains Visitor’s Bureau. In 2012 the Skier Family was honored with the New Jersey Y Friends of Camp Award. He is a Director of the Dime Bank. Henry was also named the 2018 Businessperson of the Year by the Chamber of the Northern Poconos.
Henry is married to Eve Skier and shares leadership in AMSkier with his two children Jeffrey and Aimee Skier. He is also the proud grandfather of Annie, Abe, and Slater.
