Diane Fenner Zwillenberg and David Zwillenberg

Diane and David moved to Merion in 1983, where they pursued careers as a lawyer and doctor, respectively, while raising their five children. Both Diane and David attended yeshiva day schools and high schools in New York, and are strong believers in the critical importance of Jewish education in creating future committed Jewish families. David attended Yeshiva University, and after college, served on the Yeshiva College Board, following in the footsteps of his father who was a musmach of the Rav and served on the RIETS Board and his mother who served on the girls’ high school Board.
Diane and David’s parents were extremely supportive of social and charitable activities in their own communities and expected the same from all their children. Diane and David each have two siblings, all four of whom have served in leadership positions in their own communities.
For over 40 years, Diane and David have been committed to their schools and their shuls. Each of them served on the LMS Board, where Diane rewrote the bylaws and did a survey to determine community preferences, and where they inaugurated and sponsored the post-Megillah Purim party at LMS beginning in 1984. Each of them was involved with Torah Academy, where David served for many years on the Education and Executive Committees, and where Diane ran a successful art auction to benefit scholarship recipients. They have both been involved with Rodef Sholom in Atlantic City, where David currently serves on the Board and Diane chaired the committee that rewrote the shul’s constitution. David has been distributing candy to children for many years, and Diane along with their daughters, organized concerts for the benefit of various Jewish causes in Israel.
Diane came onto the Kohelet Yeshiva High School Board in 2013, just as their youngest son was entering 11th grade. Rather than move away from an interest in Jewish education when her own children had all graduated from high school, Diane made that the primary focus of her energy, serving as president of the board from 2014-2019, during which time she spearheaded the transformation of the school from a high school to an integrated K-12. As a past president, Diane currently serves as an active member of the Governance, Development, and Finance Committees and as chair of the Investment Committee. The Zwillenberg families donated the funds for building of the lower school playground, which has been named Gan Savta in Diane’s honor, and the funds for the music room which was named in honor of their very close friend, Dr. Raphael Rubin, z”l, himself an accomplished violinist who played at classical music concerts that benefitted Kohelet Yeshiva.
All of the Zwillenberg children attended the local Yeshiva Day Schools, from pre-K to 12th grade, and two of them – Naomi and Joseph – are Stern/Kohelet alumni. Three of their five children have settled in Lower Merion, and four of their grandchildren are current Kohelet Yeshiva Lab School students.
