Rabbi Shaul J. Kassin
Our Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Kassin moved to the Jersey Shore in 2002 and since has become one of our community’s most inspirational leaders. Rabbi Kassin teaches in Hillel Yeshiva and is the head rabbi at Congregation Magen David of West Deal. As a role model and spiritual leader, his knowledge, soft-spoken manner and sense of humor have endeared him to countless students and community members.We are thrilled that Rabbi Kassin is this year’s Journal honoree. His teaching and dedication to Hillel Yeshiva has strengthened the bonds of our students and alumni to embrace the importance of Hillel Yeshiva’s goal of hesed and giving back to our community.
In his honor, the theme of the journal is about Tzedaka, one of the most important values in Judaism. As stated in the Gemara, Tzedaka is a very special mitzvah:
עשר אעשרנו לך
