Steven J. Weiss is one of the founding partners of Cannon Heyman & Weiss, LLP and concentrates his law practice in the areas of affordable housing and community development law and corporate finance transactions.

 

He was born in Buffalo, New York and is admitted to practice in New York and Minnesota. Mr. Weiss received his education at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Management (B.S. 1987, M.B.A. 1988), and the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law (J.D., 1991).

 

Mr. Weiss serves on the Board of Directors of The Community Preservation Corporation and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and chairs its Diversity Committee. Mr. Weiss is a past President of the Buffalo Jewish Federation and is a former Board Member of the Jewish Federations of North America, the Jewish Community Center, Temple Beth Zion and Hillel of Buffalo.

 

Ellen Weiss is a Certified Integrative Health Coach, Master Workplace Wellness Concierge, and Executive Wellness Consultant. She has been collaborating with the Jewish Community Center of Greater Buffalo, Healthy Fitness Family (HFF) Corporate Wellness Consulting and Stressmaster International. She works closely with organizations to help their employees (and their families) become happier, healthier, and more present at work and at home by educating them on making small lifestyle habit changes resulting in long term results. These programs can be part of a long-term strategy to reduce benefit costs and increase employee engagement, innovation, and retention.

 

Ellen received her Bachelors degree from the University of Michigan, MBA from the University at Buffalo, and Certifications from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and Workplace Wellness Centre of Excellence.

 

Ellen has been involved with the Buffalo Jewish Community for many years.  She has served as the Buffalo Jewish Federation’s Young Women’s Chair, Women’s Philanthropy Chair, Engagement Conference Chair, Center for Jewish Engagement and Learning Chair (now known as LiNK), Adult Engagement Chair, Executive Board Member, as well as a Board member of Temple Beth Zion.  She received the Ruth and Milton Kahn Young Leadership Award and will be honored with the prestigious, internationally recognized Kipnis-Wilson/Friedland Award at the International Lion of Judah Conference in December.  This award is given to Lions of Judah who have demonstrated the highest ideals of leadership and involvement. Winners are chosen by their communities as “women of valor” with a lifetime of commitment to the Jewish world.
