Elaine Brauner Dobin loved the Hebrew Academy and was connected to the school for practically her entire life. Born in Coral Gables and raised in Miami Beach, Elaine attended the Hebrew Academy, stopping only after graduating junior high as there was no Hebrew Academy high school for girls at that time. After studying at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, graduating from the University of Miami and taking graduate courses at Stern College for Women, she returned to Miami Beach with her husband David. Her involvement with the Hebrew Academy continued as a parent to her son Joshua (HA ‘89) and daughter in law and past President of the Hebrew Academy Board of Directors, Jennifer, of whom she was very proud. Her three grandchildren, Hailey (HA ‘16), Noah (HA ’19) and Jeremy (HA ’21) all graduated from the Hebrew Academy, and Elaine took great pride in being part of five generations of Hebrew Academy women, including her grandmother Sadie Brauner, mother Fran Brauner, herself, daughter in law Jennifer and granddaughter Hailey. She felt very privileged to have been both a student of Rabbi Alexander S. Gross and a close friend of Rabbi Yossi Heber. She was a long time, devoted member of the Hebrew Academy Board of Directors, always willing to do whatever was needed for the school, no task or challenge too great or too small. She loved the Hebrew Academy and felt very connected to its growth and success as part of both the Miami Beach and greater South Florida Jewish communities. Elaine truly was connected to the Hebrew Academy for her entire life, and her dedication, leadership and loyalty will continue to inspire.
