Hynda Feit
Born and raised in the East Midwood section of Brooklyn, New York, our honoree Hynda Feit attended Yeshivah of Flatbush and spent her summers at Camp Massad. She went on to complete her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Psychology at New York University. Hynda had a successful 30 year business career, which included design, business development, and entrepreneurship. It allowed her to travel the world and work with business leaders from Paris to Beijing, simultaneously raising her children who also attended Orthodox day schools.
Growing up, Hynda’s home was filled with music which she was determined to pass down to her children and future generations. She filled her home and car with the sounds of her childhood. After retiring, Hynda revived her old passion for choral singing, in 2009, by joining Shirah: The Jewish Community Chorus of the JCC on the Palisades, conducted by Matthew Lazar. This opened Hynda’s eyes to the breadth of the Zamir Choral Foundation. From then, Hynda’s involvement has been limitless. She is immersed in all aspects of the Foundation as an Executive Committee member and is a member of the Board of Directors. She proudly considers herself a catalyst in the development of the HaZaPrep program. Her granddaughter, Robyn, was among the first “preppies,” and continued on to HaZamir. Hynda is delighted to devote her time and energy to HaZamir. She travels to Israel several times a year to work with HaZamir Israel. Her bond is so strong with HaZamir singers, some call her Grandma.
To honor her parents, Hynda commissioned two compositions, both of which have been performed by HaZamir. Hynda is committed to continuing the legacy of Jewish music and thanks her children and grandchildren for appreciating and supporting her passion.
