Wendy Brodsky
Temple Israel
Wendy has been a member of Temple Israel almost her entire life, celebrating all of her life-cycle events with her Temple family. Following in the footsteps of her parents, Lois and Barry Einhorn, she took on her first leadership role as President of Aleph Congregation in the mid-1960s. Wendy was the first female to chant a haftorah from the bimah (at the age of 13), which was the dawn of egalitarianism at Temple Israel. She was also the first female President of Temple Israel (1998-2000), following her father’s lead 31 years later. Not one to “sail off into the sunset,” Wendy has remained active and engaged over the past 24 years. Whether it is baking sweets for various events, chairing mini fundraisers, organizing and assigning High Holiday honors, or coordinating hosts for daily ZOOM minyanim, she is a ready and willing worker. Wendy also has the distinction of still being able to wear her Bat Mitzvah dress when she annually chants her haftorah! Outside of the Temple, Wendy, and her husband, Ron, spend as much time as they can with their children and grandchildren in Denver and Jerusalem.
