Bruce Gordon
Lifetime Achievment

Bruce is a true DC native, born in the city and reared in Hillcrest Heights, MD just outside southeast border. He began his religious education at  Shaare Tikvah and became the first bar mitzvah of his family. Twenty-five years later his marriage to Patty got him involved with Olam Tikvah and shortly thereafter, its Men's Club. He got hooked on volunteerism as a club 1St VP at the Seaboard Retreat in 2006. As club president he turned the struggling club around with two SRO variety show fundraisers JEWS ROCK!. It was then he initiated the club's congregation wide Yellow Candle in 2009, which has produced thousands of dollars of tzedakah in the following years of continuous involvement. Spreading the Men's Club vibe beyond it's members, he initiated the partnership with the Jewish Community Relations Council to distribute Yellow Candles at the Montgomery County and Northern Virginia Yom HaShoah commemorations that continues today.

With Patty's participation and support, Bruce went on to regional leadership and beyond. As Membership VP he enrolled Kol Shalom of Annapolis as a new club and enrolled record numbers of men to regional retreat and the international convention. As the 2013 FJMC Marketing Chair he led the effort that brought record numbers in attendance and tribute revenues.

As Seaboard Region 1st VP, he chaired the first themed Man of the Year. Tribute to the Blues which set record attendance and profits. He led the change to electronic tributes and event management, which has transformed administration ease of the event and facilitates other charitable regional fundraising. He also led the initial effort to support the Abayudaya and brought Aaron Moses to the 2015 convention.

As region president, he continued the charge to support the Abayudaya. He led regionwide and national efforts that generated tens of thousands of dollars of support. At local region leadership events, REPRESENT! Gordon brought region leaders together to meet virtually with the Abayudaya and raise thousands of dollars for them through kippot sales.  These events also led to the 2016 regional retreat, Good to Great, which he chaired and brought a record 70 attendees. His leadership returned Aaron Moses to the 2017 convention where Bruce's efforts also led to record host region attendance. He also enrolled Beth Shalom of Columbia as a club and yellow candle distributor.

Bruce has not only led the region to success, but inspired others as well. Among his most notable recruits include region and international leaders Bob Watts, Eric Beser, Dan Moldover, Tom Loggie, David Freiman. Bruce and Patty reside in Annandale, VA. He loves his work originating residential mortgages at Intercoastal Mortgage, LLC, the DC area's top lender. Bruce has earned a lifetime appointment to the Olam Tikvah Men's Club board of directors. He grew Jewishly as a result of his leadership in the Seaboard Region. He lays tefillin daily and reads a Torah portion for each book.
