Beth El Montgomery County - Sheila Bellack
Sheila Bellack joined the Beth El staff as Executive Director in July 2000. She moved to the Washington, DC, area in 1989 to become Cultural Arts Director and, subsequently, Chief Operating Officer at the Bender JCC in Rockville. Prior to that, her career in Jewish communal service included positions at the Jewish Community Centers in Albany (NY), Toronto, and Oakland, CA, as well as Toronto Jewish Congress (now UJA Federation of Greater Toronto) and BBYO in Montreal. A native of Toronto, Canada, she received her BA from York University there and her Master’s from the State University of New York in Albany, both in Psychology. She is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Temple and Synagogue Administrators Association, of which she is currently Treasurer, and the North American Association of Synagogue Executives (NAASE). She is also a founding trustee of the Baltimore Washington Kashrut Council.
