Miri's Story: A Journey to Healing
On October 7th, everything changed for 26-year-old Miri. Awakened by gunfire as terrorists stormed Ofakim, she hid in her bathtub, trapped for hours, listening to terrifying screams, unsure if she would survive. When the police found her, she was physically unharmed, but emotionally shattered. The trauma consumed her life—she wouldn’t leave home, eat, or sleep. Nightmares haunted her, and the fear of another attack never left her mind. Her family was desperate to help but felt powerless.
Miri was connected with Esther, a trauma therapist at Emunah’s Netivot Therapy Centre. Understanding the depth of her fear, Esther met Miri where she felt safest—the bathtub. Sitting beside her on the floor, she began the long journey of guiding Miri back to herself. Step by step, Miri started to reclaim her life, learning to manage her fear and trust the world again.
Today, she is taking small but powerful steps: returning to work in a limited capacity, sharing meals with her family, and sleeping in her bed for the first time in months. The road to healing is long, but she is no longer walking it alone.
There are so many more Miris who need us.
Where Your Support Goes: Family in Israel Event
In the wake of October 7th, Emunah is on the ground, providing urgent relief to Israeli families shattered by terror and loss. As the need for healing and therapy grows, we are expanding our initiatives to reach even more individuals in crisis. This is more than therapy—it is a mission of survival, resilience, and long-term recovery.
Proceeds from this year's Family in Israel event will directly support:
- Expanding trauma care services to ensure more families receive immediate and ongoing support.
- Hiring specialized therapists to provide expert care for those navigating unimaginable trauma.
- Rebuilding lives by offering critical counselling and emotional support to children and families.
These are not just services; they are lifelines. Grieving parents, struggling spouses, and grandparents mourning their beloved grandchildren really need our help.
By giving today, you bring healing, unity, and strength to Israel.
