Recipient of the Dr. Bennett I. Solomon Community Leadership Award
Amy Gold was raised in Newton, MA, and is an alumna of The Winsor School in Boston. She graduated cum laude with a BA from the University of Pennsylvania. After college, Amy taught in New Canaan, CT, and Washington, D.C. before heading to Boston where she earned a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Boston University while teaching second grade at the Solomon Schechter Day School. In 1998, Amy began her 18-year career at The Rashi School, spending her last eight years there as Associate Head of School.
In 2015, Amy was recruited to be the Head of School at Cohen Hillel Academy, now Epstein Hillel School (EHS). Amy was already familiar with the North Shore Jewish community from her time serving as a counselor on the Lappin Foundation’s Youth to Israel trip in both 1997 and 1999. She quickly made an indelible mark in the life of the school and, indeed, in the greater North Shore Jewish community. With Amy at the helm, EHS is thriving. She was instrumental in obtaining a transformative multi-million dollar gift, and during her tenure, student enrollment has doubled in size. Amy further transformed the school with the opening of the state-of-the-art David Lear Sulman Innovation Center in 2020.
Amy’s dedication to Epstein Hillel School and her leadership are exemplary, and her deep love of Israel, Hebrew language, and Judaism permeates the curriculum at EHS. Amy has rebuilt the school’s reputation for academic excellence in a joyful, vibrant, and caring environment where students love to learn, develop a strong Jewish identity, and gain critical thinking and leadership skills for the future.
Amy is equally dedicated to her family, with whom she shares many joys in life: husband Fred, 20-year-old son Zachary, 16-year-old daughter Orli, and two rescue dogs, Nora and Tali.
Amy is truly honored to receive the Dr. Bennett I. Solomon Community Leadership Award, and she is humbled to join the list of respected community leaders whose names are associated with Dr. Solomon, z”l.
