Connie M. Cullen
Honoree
Connie likes to say she was born, raised and educated in New York—making her a proud native New Yorker. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in communications at Fordham University, she entered a career in advertising and marketing including positions at BBDO Inc., St. Paul’s National Historic Site and The Hudson River Museum.
She now works in marketing for the NY Power Authority, the largest state public electric utility in the nation, and its subsidiary, the NYS Canal Corporation that operates, maintains and promotes the Erie, Champlain, Oswego and Cayuga-Seneca canals—great places for a recreational vacation—in Upstate New York.
Connie traces her Irish ancestry through her maternal grandfather and paternal grandparents. Her grandmother Elizabeth (Nana) Cullen was the daughter of John J., whom Connie’s late father was named, and Beatrice Reynolds Kelly from Drumdoom Farm in Mohill Leitrim, Ireland. Connie is known for her Irish Soda Bread recipe passed down her maternal side by her late mother, Eileen.
She joined the Eastchester Irish-American Social Club (EIASC) at the suggestion (maybe insistence) of her fellow Honoree, Beth Schaefer, her husband Kevin, and Anna and John Phelan, a past Honoree and past president of EIASC, respectively. She has volunteered in several positions focused on publicity and is now Correspondence Secretary serving internal and external communications for the club.
Connie has been an Eastchester resident for more than 40 years where she raised her twins Emma, a graphic designer, and Michael, a certified public accountant, both graduates of the Eastchester school system. Connie is honored and humbled by this recognition from the community loving EIASC members dedicated to promoting Irish Culture. She is grateful to her family and friends who have come tonight to celebrate with her.
