About Yachad
Yachad is celebrating its 35th anniversary of bringing individuals with disabilities out of the shadows and into communities where their abilities can shine. Though the Jewish community is a more welcoming and inclusive place today, Yachad’s work is far from done. Yachad continues to educate and advocate for a greater understanding, acceptance, outreach and a pro-disability attitude, ensuring persons with diverse abilities their rightful place within the Jewish community.
Locally, Chicago Yachad is celebrating its 15th anniversary. We are dedicated to enhancing the life opportunities of individuals with disabilities of all ages, ensuring their participation in the full spectrum of Jewish life in the greater Chicagoland area and beyond. Our members participate in several social and recreational activities each month, participate in our adult day services program, receive vocational support, participate in summer camp programs, Birthright and much more. Yachad also runs a high school leadership program for typically-developing peer participants.
Yachad has chapters located throughout the United States, Canada and Israel.
Yachad is an agency of the Orthodox Union.
