Judy grew up in University City, a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri. After stops in Memphis, Jerusalem, and Philadelphia, she landed in Forest Hills. Growing up, her family was very involved in their synagogue, Shaare Zedek, one of three Conservative synagogues in St. Louis – her dad was in the Men’s Club, her mom was in Sisterhood, and she and her siblings were in USY. In Philadelphia, Judy met Matt, her now husband of almost 40 years and they moved to Forest Hills. After a bit of shul hopping, they joined the Forest Hills Jewish Center and quickly got involved in shul life. It was a perfect fit for them. Matt was asked to join the Board of Trustees and Judy joined the Youth Activities Committee. Judy eventually was appointed to the Ritual Committee and has been the Co-Chair for over 25 years, making sure that honors are distributed and Shabbat and holiday services run smoothly. Judy is an occasional Torah reader and chants Haftorah and Megillot on the holidays. The saying “it takes a village” is so, so true. FHJC is their home, their family.

Judy’s involvement in Sisterhood started when Sisterhood began offering evening programs. Although she has not served as an officer, she is an active member. Judy is a pharmacist and has shared her expertise by presenting lectures on osteoporosis, vaccines, and managing medications. She helps coordinate the services for Sisterhood Shabbat and reads Torah during the service. She enjoys the variety of programs offered by Sisterhood, particularly the evening book discussions and yoga. She was honored at the FHJC Torah Fund luncheon in 2016.

In her professional life, Judy is a tenured clinical professor of pharmacy at St. John’s University and a clinical pharmacist at the Stern Family Center for Rehabilitation. She is a board-certified geriatric pharmacist and serves on the Board of Directors of the American Geriatrics Society. She is a past president of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists and a co-editor of the Geriatric Dosage Handbook.

Judy and Matt are the proud parents of Dina and her husband Moshe, and David and his wife Cara. They are Savta and Saba to Jonah, and by the time you read this (G-d willing), another grandson.
