In June 1968, my husband Jerry and I got married. We met in Far Rockaway when he was a dental student at NYU. I was working at Lehman Brothers and attending Brooklyn College where I earned an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts. We lived for a year in Ft. Worth, Texas and then two years in Caribou, Maine at Loring Air Force Base.

I joined the Sisterhood when I first joined the shul (Wantagh Jewish Center now Congregation Beth Tikvah) and served in various positions on the Sisterhood Board. Then I partnered with my dear friend Estelle Friedman. She and I have had a wonderful partnership for many years, serving together as Membership VP, Religious Activities, Fundraising, Programming and currently Adult Education co-chairs. During the summer, I have an annual Summer Get-Together at my home. Recently I have been helping out at our Juliets program. I'm also Co-President for our Synagogue's Chavurah group.

I signed up for a Hebrew class years ago and then joined a Bat Mitzvah class. Since then, I have been a regular at Saturday morning services. I have been on two congregational trips to Israel and one very special trip to the Jewish Theological Seminary.

I was honored to receive The Clair Rogoff Woman of Achievement Award from our Sisterhood. Also, two years ago I was chosen with four others to be an honoree for our Annual Journal Luncheon. Jerry and I were honored at a UJA breakfast which was very special to us. But, the best honor has been Kallat Torah (Bride of the Torah) at Simchat Torah.

The past 12 years have been hard for me because my husband was ill for 10 years with Lewy Body Dementia. My father came to live with us and passed away at 108. My daughter Jennifer and her two sons, Gavin and Gabe, and my son David and his son, Ted, have been supportive and have always been there when I needed them.
