Michelle's upbringing in Seaford, NY was characterized by a deep appreciation for Jewish values and community, fostered by her parents' involvement as founding members of the Seaford Jewish Center. Her family's commitment to contributing to the community was evident through her mother's active participation in Sisterhood and her father's role as VP of Membership. Upon settling in Melville in 1995, Michelle and her husband, Brian, wasted no time in joining the temple, which quickly became a second home to them. Their three children, Samantha, Jack, and Henry, all grew up at South Huntington Jewish Center, currently known as Melville Jewish Center, attending Nursery School (where Michelle served as the Nursery School Liaison to the Synagogue Board), the Religious School, and ultimately became B’nai Mitzvah

Throughout her life, Michelle has remained deeply devoted to MJC and has worked tirelessly to foster a warm sense of community. For over 20 years, she has served on the Sisterhood Board, playing a pivotal role in Fundraising, the Boutique, and developed the Author Series in partnership with the Sid Jacobson JCC and Jewish Book Council.

With over 30 years of experience in education, Michelle's passion for teaching is matched only by her love of books. She has earned New York Certifications in Special and Elementary Education, as well as English 7-12, and recently fulfilled her lifelong dream by completing two masters degrees to earn two more New York State Certifications. Michelle currently serves as a Library Media and Educational Technology Specialist at West Babylon Junior High School, where she continues to inspire and educate students.

In addition to her work in the classroom, Michelle has received extensive training in Holocaust Education. Her dedication to education has led to her recent nomination to serve on the PBS-WLIW/WNET Educational Telecommunications Service Committee, further solidifying her reputation as an educator.

Michelle is honored to have been chosen by the Melville Jewish Center Sisterhood as the 2022-2023 Woman of Achievement. This recognition has reinforced the value of her life’s work and commitment to the Jewish community.
