Diane Hershkowitz has been an active member of Jericho Jewish Center for more than 40 years!
 
Diane graduated from Brooklyn College with a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught for many years in different Jewish pre-schools including East Meadow Jewish Center, the Reconstructionist Jewish Center in Manhasset, Temple Sinai in Roslyn, and the Samuel Field JCC, and was the Director of the Temple Israel Nursery School in Great Neck. Diane also was a substitute teacher in Brooklyn and in the Plainview School District. 
 
At Jericho Jewish Center, Diane became active in Parents’ Council and Sisterhood. As president of Parents’ Council, she received the Very Involved Parent Award from the Board of Jewish Education. Diane held various positions in Parents’ Council and the Sisterhood Board, as well as serving on the temple boards. After her husband, Thomas, passed 6 years ago, Diane became a regular Shabbat service attendee and one of the “Shabbat Ladies.”
 
Diane’s community service includes involvement in Hadassah and NA’AMAT USA, where she helped found the Shalom Club. Today she is an active member of NA’AMAT’s Long Island/Queens Council and has helped run several Zoom programs for NA’AMAT and Jericho Jewish Center Sisterhood for the past 2 COVID years. 
 
Diane is blessed with 2 sons, Michael, married to Kelly, and Jeffrey, married to Lindsay. Michael and Kelly have 3 children, Ryan who became a Bar Mitzvah in May, Jake, and Emmy. Jeffrey and Lindsay have 3 daughters, Hayden, Taylor, and Cameron, and number 4, a boy, is on the way! Diane enjoys sharing songs, games, and stories about the Jewish holidays with her grandchildren. Mazel tov to Diane on this well-deserved honor.
