Rachel Olshin has been a member of BDJ since 2019. When she arrived in LA just short of three years ago, Rachel was heartened by the shul’s warmth, diversity, inclusivity of LGBTQ Jews, and commitment to female leadership in Orthodoxy, all of which embody values Rachel cares for deeply.

 

Driven to take an active role in carrying out the shul’s mission, Rachel brought her unique set of skills to the YP minyan, where her focus was bringing the community together with a proper "in-town" kiddush. She also serves on the Shavuot committee and works to create engaging lectures and programming for the tikkun leil and the entire holiday.

 

Rachel feels very fortunate to be part of the entire BDJ community for creating such a loving, heimish, environment, where our tradition feels perfect and powerful.  In the words of NK, 'because here...they are".
