Born and raised in South Florida, Mrs. McGee comes from a mixed family background of Japanese, Italian and Irish. Her interests include working out/weightlifting, crafting, traveling, party planning and searching Pinterest for teaching ideas, photography, fashion and baking. She is married to her husband, Steven, a firefighter, and they have two daughters, Namiko and Leilani.

She graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 2011 with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and an ESOL endorsement. Mrs. McGee taught VPK at Karen Slattery Preschool from 2008-2011 before joining BMA as a 2nd Grade Teacher, where she continues to teach to this day. She is a trained mentor in the JNTP (Jewish New Teacher Program) from 2017 to the present and has been trained in the Seeing Stars reading program through Lindamood Bell.

Throughout her tenure at BMA, Mrs. McGee has continuously demonstrated a dedicated and enthusiastic approach to education. She has always been creative, finding new and exciting ways to engage her students and make her classroom a place where learning is fun and experiential. She has consistently modeled for her students how to be curious learners and citizens of the world.

Mrs. McGee brings unmatched energy to her classroom, and her students are consistently energized by her presence. Her enthusiasm for teaching is infectious, and her dedication to helping her students reach their full potential is truly inspiring.

Mrs. McGee’s goal as a teacher is to make each child feel loved and valued, empowered and capable of success. She believes that all children in her class have the right to feel appreciated, be free to exercise creativity, know what is expected of them and feel supported. Mrs. McGee credits BMA for helping her mold into the teacher she is today, making her a truly deserving recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award.
