Arlene Pianko Groner has been a resident of Silver Spring, Maryland since 1975.  She retired from the United States Department of Justice in 2016, after a 30 year career as a civil litigator, most recently defending the United States in complex banking and Government contract cases.  She also spent nearly a decade in private law practice, concentrating on energy regulatory matters. 
 
Since her retirement, Ms. Groner has volunteered as a driver for the Kemp Mill Village and for Bikur Cholim of Greater Washington, has served on the Young Israel Shomrai Emunah board, and is on the Steering Committee of the Daughters of Abraham interfaith book group.  She previously served on the boards of the Kemp Mill Synagogue and the George Washington University Hillel. 
 
Ms. Groner has two sons and a daughter, as well as three granddaughters.  She is planning to move to Israel in December 2020, to fulfill a lifelong dream and join her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter.

 

Arlene is being honored for her many years of dedication to improving the quality of life for the most vulnerable among us. She has shared ideas that have greatly enhanced BCGW services and made a significant impact on BCGW operations.

 

We wish Arlene well and will miss her greatly when she makes aliyah this winter.
