Sara & Scott Harris
Guests of Honor
Scott Harris hails from New Orleans, and Sara from New Jersey, but together they have taken the New York Jewish community by storm, bringing all of us along through their never-ending passion, commitment and hospitality.
Scott is a leading New York residential real estate broker, leading the Harris Residential Team at Brown Harris Stevens. A singer in a band in an earlier life, Scott combined his passions for music and the Jewish community when, as a Wexner Heritage Fellow, he founded Jewish Star, a continent-wide talent search, contest and mentorship program for the next generation of Jewish musicians and song leaders. Scott serves on the boards of Jewish Rock Radio, the UJA Federation of New York and the Jewish Education Project.
Sara has served on the board of Yaldaynu Preschool for many years and also serves on the board of the URJ’s Henry S. Jacobs Camp. She has nearly completed a three-year run as Co-President of the Parents Association at the Abraham Joshua Heschel School, where she has led year-round family and community efforts and programs and has successfully steered the Heschel PA through the years of the covid pandemic.
But no institution has benefited more from Scott and Sara‘s commitment than Ansche Chesed. Sara leads AC‘s membership committee, helping to welcome new members into our ever-growing community, and also has become a regular member of our sanctuary leyning rotation. Scott is a member of AC’s board of trustees, and he also has led the synagogue’s building committee through the ongoing, historic renovation of Ansche Chesed’s home.
Scott and Sara’s tireless efforts on behalf of the community are matched only by their personal connection and hospitality. They regularly attend Shabbat services and other shul programs where they welcome every member and non-member alike with a smile and an open heart, and they frequently welcome AC members new and old to join them and their three children at their beautiful Shabbat table.
