Dr. Mendy and Simha Wolf
Young Leadership Award
 
Rabbi Dr. Mendy and Simha Wolf and their children moved to Columbus 5 years ago. Shortly after settling in Columbus, they became proud members of Ahavas Sholom. 
 
Simha has been involved with the Columbus Mikvah, Bikur Cholim, and Chevra Kadisha. She is also an active member of the Ahavas Sholom event planning committee, has chaired shul galas, and spearheaded events such as Shabbos Mevarchim important holiday events, including the most recent pre-Shavuos Sourdough Workshop. Additionally, Simha has co-chaired the Columbus Torah Academy Scholarship Dinner for the last three years. 
 
Mendy is a member of the Ahavas Shalom board, where he has taken part in the Shul’s transition period between Rabbis as well as the recently completed Shul renovation plans. Mendy also enjoys volunteering his time for important Shul functions and holiday programs. Mendy has joined the Ahavas Sholom security committee to help ensure Shul’s safety in trying times. 
 
Mendy was born in Detroit, MI, and moved to Chicago at age 12. After finishing high school in the Lubavitch Mesivtah of Chicago, he attended yeshiva in Manchester, England, Morristown, NJ, and completed Smicha in Venice, Italy. During his time in yeshiva, he engaged with the local communities by running after-school programs for children and was very active in Kiruv.  He then decided to pursue medicine. Mendy and Simha met in Chicago while he was studying premed. They then moved to New York for Mendy to attend Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine. After graduating, they moved to Columbus for an internal medicine residency at OhioHealth Doctors Hospital. Feeling truly at home in Columbus with the Ahavas Shalom community, they decided to stay in Columbus, and he accepted a position as a Hospitalist with OhioHealth. 
 
Simha was born and raised in Marseille, South of France, attended Yavne school and Seminary in Canada, followed by a year of Shlichut, which included outreach, community programming, and running two successful Hebrew Schools in Shanghai, China. Simha attended university in France, studying Medical Biology, before moving to the US upon marrying Mendy. While Mendy attended medical school, Simha became the clinical manager for a busy primary care practice in Brooklyn and was actively involved with Crown Heights Hatzlaha during the COVID-19 pandemic. Simha then pursued a career in nursing at Mount Carmel College of Nursing. Simha will shortly begin her position as a Surgical Nurse at Grant Medical Center and resume her Graduate Education to become an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
 
Mendy and Simha have lived in Chicago, Brooklyn, and Columbus for 12 years. They have 4 daughters; Ariella is in 7th grade, Shirelle is in 3rd grade, both at CTA. Talia attends Gan Ephraim, and the Wolfs recently welcomed baby Shani to the world. 
 
Mendy and Simha are extremely grateful to their parents for an enriched upbringing filled with chesed, happiness, and community involvement throughout their lives. Inspired by the vision of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Mendy and Simha have strived to be lamplighters by bringing light to the world, one Mitzvah at a time, in their personal and professional lives. Despite being busy building their careers while raising their children, Mendy and Simha endeavor to be active participants in the Ahavas Sholom Community and encourage others to be as well. 
 
Mendy and Simha originally planned to move to Columbus only for the duration of his residency but have since discovered the gem that is the Columbus Jewish community and decided to stay. They felt welcomed and found the true meaning of community at Ahavas Sholom. Now that they have made a home in Columbus, they strive to spread that same feeling of community, unity, warmth, and inclusivity to the ever-growing Ahavas Sholom family.
