President's Gala Message

Heartfelt Thanks for Your Support

Dear Adat Mishpacha

If there is only one message you take away from tonight, let it be this: Adat Yeshurun stands with Israel.
We are living through very difficult times for Jews around the world, and I am profoundly grateful for the unity we at Adat have shown, in standing with Israel. The hope of hundreds of years of Jews yearning for a homeland was granted to us in our generation, and protecting and preserving this precious gift of Israel is central to us Jews as a nation and a people. Adat standing with Israel was evident in our record-breaking campaign, initiated by Mike and Karen Aron, to send funds to Israel over the past seven months for lifesaving resources and the protection of the Israeli people.  We are so thankful for your leadership in this essential initiative.

The concept for tonight’s gala furthers Adat’s connection with Israel in a unique manner that we can all be extremely proud of. This year’s event set a record for annual gala fundraising at our shul. Your generosity will not only support our ongoing programs and initiatives at the shul, but also contribute significantly to the establishment of a new synagogue in our sister community in Israel, Shlomit. This milestone is a testament to our collective commitment to growth and solidarity, both locally and globally. We can all look forward to developing personal connections with our brothers and sisters in Shlomit.

Suzanne and I are also humbled by the warm wishes and gratitude you have showered on us as honorees tonight. In truth, we are no different than the hundreds of others in our community who have given so much of themselves to make Adat what it is today. From the founding years with Rabbi Wohlgelerter to the current leadership of Rabbi Reich, the spirit of volunteerism has always driven our community to increasingly greater heights.

We are all so fortunate to have Adat as our spiritual home in this beautiful part of the world. Suzanne and I are forever grateful for the blessings that come with being part of such a welcoming and sincere spiritual place.

Each of us are called upon to make a difference, and while four years ago I was a reluctant leader, this has been one of the most rewarding times in my life to serve and contribute. I would like to extend a special thank you to Rabbi Reich and Brooke for being inspired partners with me in leading our community. Their dedication and support have been instrumental in helping us navigate the challenges of a rabbinic transition, Covid and now the turbulent times for Israel and our people. We have come out stronger and more united. With a united front and faith in Hashem, we can give each other the strength to prevail.

I also want to extend a special thank you to our remarkable gala chairs and good friends Jane and Colin Scher, and to all volunteers, donors, and everyone who has offered their time, talents, and resources to make this gala memorable and meaningful!

Finally, thank you to my wife of 48 years, Suzanne, who has been my partner in everything. I thank you for your guidance, support, and wisdom.

As we look ahead, I am filled with optimism and excitement for what we at Adat Yeshurun can achieve. Thank you once again for your unwavering support. May we continue to grow and thrive as a community, united in our shared values and traditions.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Brian  Marcus
