Honoring
Brian and Suzanne Marcus
Brian and Suzanne met in high school in Cape Town South Africa. They emigrated to Dallas in 1977, where they raised their three daughters, Julie, Lauren and Megan. Brian headed a successful consulting engineering practice while Suzanne completed her doctorate in psychology and subsequently ran a private practice. Both Brian and Suzanne were active in Jewish communal activities, serving on several boards.
The family moved to La Jolla in 1996, with their children ages, 10, 11 and 15, and immediately immersed themselves in Jewish community life, with board positions at Adat Yeshurun, Hillel, AJE, SDJA, Women’s division of Federation, SAJAC Gemilut Chesed, Gmach, Chesed House, Seacrest, and more recently, Kindness Initiative. Suzanne started a psychology practice in La Jolla in 1998, while Brian went on to work in real estate investments. As a volunteer at Adat Yeshurun, Brian oversaw the construction of the main campus and sanctuary, the mikvah, and the eruv. Brian and Suzanne have been active in many annual galas over the years and implemented many new programs at Adat.
Over the past few years we have been thrilled to have all three of our daughters move back to San Diego and we have been blessed with 7 grandchildren, some of whom you will see at shul on Shabbat mornings!
Brian is honored to serve the Adat community as president over the past four years, at a very special time in its history and contributes half of his success to Suzanne!
Recent achievements that give us pride are the securing of a rabbinic house and the construction of the playgrounds at the shul. Our biggest pride comes from seeing families with young children on a regular basis at shul, and the strength of our volunteer teams, who are actively involved in helping create a vibrant shul. We both wish that Adat Yeshurun continues to grow from STRENGTH to Strength… MAZAL TOV!
