RABBI REICH'S MESSAGE

הפעם אודה את ה׳ (בראשית כ׳׳ט; ל׳׳ה)

"This time, let me thank God"

To adequately express a deep and pure sense of gratitude to Hashem,

Leah names her 4th son "Yehuda", meaning, "This time let me thank God".

In fact our tradition tells us that in doing so Leah became the 1st person to properly thank Hashem for her abundance of blessing (Talmud, Brachot 7b).

Obviously there were those who came before Leah in history who said "Thank you Hashem" but not like Leah. For Leah's sense of gratitude upon the birth of Yehuda was without reservation or hesitation, because Leah knew only goodness, blessing, and nachas was to come from her Yehuda. In the spirit of Leah, we are saying - "הפעם אודה את ה׳ - Thank you Hashem!"

Our gratitude to Hashem, and all of you, is boundless. Thank you Hashem for bringing us to La Jolla. Thank you for supplanting us in a shul whose core focus is Torah growth as a community. Thank you Hashem for this amazing Adat Mishpacha.

RABBI WOHLGELERNTER'S MESSAGE

This event is called the milestone event. What exactly are milestones?

One definition is an action or event marking a significant change or stage in development, but what events qualify as milestone events? For me, Everything is a milestone. A most beautiful form of art is when you take little thumbnails of photographs from life and use the colors and images to paint a larger picture. Every thumbnail photo, every image becomes significant on the larger picture and makes you realize that the big picture is really made up of a series of smaller ones. Everyone's life is made up of a series of milestones that paint a stunning mural.

But there is another definition of a milestone: a stone set up beside a road to mark the distance in miles to a particular place. We are all travelling to another place along the road of life. We travel as individuals; we travel as a community; we travel as a nation, marching towards the ultimate goal of perfection and geulah. Every step is another milestone. Every day, every interaction. Every smile, every chesed, every bracha and every prayer.

Milestone after milestone as we climb higher and higher.
Every milestone we achieve strengthens our focus and brings us closer to our goal.

Celebrating our milestones and recognizing their place in our painting helps us see the magnificent masterpiece that is being painted before our eyes.
Mazal tov to each and every one of you who have helped create each milestone,

and a bracha to the Reichs, along with a brand new brush, so that they can continue

to paint their milestones onto the canvas called Adat Yeshurun!

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Suzanne and I have been blessed to see many joyous milestones celebrated at Adat Yeshurun since we joined 23 years ago. Torah dedications, dedication of the building, mikve, eruv, many joyous celebrations of chaggim and smachot of our family and friends in the Adat Mishpacha.

Through these milestones, we have come together to support one another,

both in joy and in sadness, under the leadership of our founding

Rabbi Jeff and Rebbitzen Shoshie Wohlgerlernter.

Now we face another major milestone, that of the Installation of Rabbi Reich and Brooke.

It has been my pleasure to get to know them. Rabbi Reich has shared his Torah

knowledge, his passion for this community, and his vision for the future of Adat as

he and Brooke build personal relationships with each and every member.

Suzanne and I look around our lively Adat mishpacha and we see a shining

coat of so many colors, so many lives intertwined, brought together as one extended family.

We wish Rabbi Reich and Brooke and the entire Kehilla much Bracha, Shalom, and Growth.
